Enea Bastianini: Full Biography

Enea Bastianini, nicknamed La Bestia — The Beast — is an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle racer, born on 30 December 1997 in Rimini. He rides the number 23 KTM for Red Bull KTM Tech3 and won the 2020 Moto2 world championship.

Five seasons in Moto3 began in 2014 with Fausto Gresini’s Junior Team GO&FUN, after two wins in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup the year before. He won for the first time at home in Misano in 2015, was championship runner-up in 2016, and finished fourth with Leopard Racing in 2018.

His Moto2 title came in 2020, his second season with Italtrans. Back-to-back wins in Andalusia and the Czech Republic launched the campaign and fifth place at Portimão settled it by nine points.

In MotoGP he was a breakout star on outdated machinery, taking a double podium at Misano in 2021 for Avintia, then four wins for Gresini in 2022 on a year-old Ducati. A factory Ducati seat followed in 2023, disrupted by injury, and a switch to Red Bull KTM Tech3 in 2025. He joins SuperFile Trackhouse for 2027 and 2028.

Chapter 01

The Moto3 Years

Bastianini arrived in the world championship in 2014 at sixteen, riding for Fausto Gresini's Junior Team GO&FUN on a KTM, and took three podiums in his rookie season. He stayed with Gresini on Honda machinery and won for the first time at home in Misano in 2015, from pole, after a final-lap pass on Miguel Oliveira. A runner-up finish in 2016 was his best Moto3 campaign. A harder year at Estrella Galicia 0,0 followed in 2017, and in 2018 he replaced the outgoing champion Joan Mir at Leopard Racing and finished fourth. Five seasons in the smallest class brought 88 starts, three wins and 24 podiums.

Chapter 02

La Bestia

Bastianini moved to Moto2 with Italtrans in 2019 and finished tenth. The following year he was champion. Back-to-back wins in Andalusia and the Czech Republic launched the campaign, a win and a podium at Misano cemented it, and fifth place at Portimão was enough to take the title by nine points. In 2021 he stepped up to MotoGP with Avintia Esponsorama on a two-year-old Ducati GP19, one of only three riders on older machinery, and took a double podium at Misano. Then came 2022: on a year-old GP21 at Gresini he won in Qatar, Austin, Le Mans and Aragón, and finished third in the world championship.

Chapter 03

The Factory Years

The Gresini season earned a factory Ducati seat for 2023, but a shoulder blade broken in a first-lap incident at the Portimão opener cost him the first three rounds, another first-lap crash in Barcelona cost three more, and he never settled on the GP23. He answered it with a dominant win in Malaysia, holding off his own teammate. 2024 was better — two wins, nine podiums and fourth overall — but not enough to sustain a title fight. He moved to Red Bull KTM Tech3 in 2025 and managed a single podium, third at Barcelona. He joins SuperFile Trackhouse on Aprilia machinery for 2027 and 2028.
