Christopher David Bell is an American stock car racing driver, born on 16 December 1994 in Norman, Oklahoma. He drives the No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series.

He came up on dirt, winning the USAC National Midget championship in 2013 and the Chili Bowl Nationals in 2017, 2018 and 2019 — three in succession. He still races midgets and trucks when the Cup schedule allows.

His first NASCAR title came in 2017, when he won five races and the Camping World Truck Series championship with Kyle Busch Motorsports. Two Xfinity seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing followed: seven wins in 2018 and eight in 2019.

He reached the Cup Series in 2020 with Leavine Family Racing, moved to Joe Gibbs Racing for 2021 and won at the Daytona road course that year. Thirteen wins have followed, including the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 and the 2025 All-Star Race, with a best championship finish of third in 2022.

Chapter 01

Dirt, and a Truck Title

Bell grew up racing on dirt in Oklahoma and won the USAC National Midget Series championship in 2013. He remains one of the most successful midget racers of his generation: the Chili Bowl Nationals, the sport's biggest indoor midget event, fell to him in 2017, 2018 and 2019, three years running, and he has won the Turkey Night Grand Prix three times. His first NASCAR championship came in 2017, when he took five wins and twenty-one top tens in twenty-three Truck Series starts for Kyle Busch Motorsports, adding the regular season title alongside it.

Chapter 02

Xfinity

Joe Gibbs Racing moved him to the Xfinity Series for 2018, where he won seven races and finished fourth, and then eight in 2019 for third in the championship — fifteen victories across two seasons in the No. 20. That form earned a Cup Series seat, though not immediately at Gibbs: he spent 2020 with Leavine Family Racing in the No. 95, scoring two top fives and seven top tens in a season that ended with the team closing down. It was enough. Gibbs had a seat waiting.

Chapter 03

Joe Gibbs Racing

Bell took over the No. 20 for 2021 and won that February at the Daytona road course, his first Cup victory. Since then he has become one of the series' most consistent front-runners: third in the championship in 2022 with three wins and four poles, fourth in 2023 with six poles, then fifth in both 2024 and 2025. The 2024 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte and the 2025 All-Star Race are among thirteen Cup wins, and he has taken fifteen pole positions. A championship has so far eluded him.
