Who Is Toprak Razgatlıoğlu?

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is a Turkish motorcycle racer and three-time Superbike World Champion, winning in 2021 for Yamaha and in 2024 and 2025 for BMW. He was the first Turkish rider to take the title, and he holds the championship record of 13 consecutive race wins. He moved to MotoGP with Prima Pramac Racing for 2026.

Who Is Toprak Razgatlıoğlu?

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is a three-time Superbike World Champion and the first Turkish rider to win the title. He took it for Yamaha in 2021 and for BMW in 2024 and 2025, and finished eight seasons in the championship with 78 wins and 173 podium finishes from 258 starts.

He arrived with a privateer team from his own country. Puccetti Racing ran him on a Kawasaki in 2018 and 2019, and he took his first two wins in the second of those years. Yamaha signed him for 2020, and in 2021 he beat Jonathan Rea to the championship, ending a run of six consecutive titles.

The BMW years produced a record. He moved for 2024 and won the marque’s first Superbike title. Between Assen in April and Portimão in August he won 13 races in a row, beating the previous mark of 11 held jointly by Rea and Álvaro Bautista. In 2025 he won 21 of the 36 races and took a third championship.

He left as reigning champion. Yamaha announced in June 2025 that he would move to MotoGP for 2026 with Prima Pramac Racing, making him the first Turkish rider to start a Grand Prix in the class. He is managed by the former Supersport world champion Kenan Sofuoğlu, and is known as El Turco.

Chapter 01

The End of a Dynasty

Razgatlıoğlu came into the championship in 2018 with Puccetti Racing, a Turkish privateer squad running Kawasakis, and scored his first two wins in the second season. Yamaha took him for 2020. The year after that he won 13 of the 37 races and settled the title at Mandalika by finishing second in race one: the first Turkish Superbike World Champion, and the rider who ended Jonathan Rea’s run of six consecutive championships. In 2022 he won 14 races, one more than in his title year, and finished second to Álvaro Bautista.

Thirteen in a Row

BMW signed him for 2024 on a two-year deal and he won at Catalunya in April, the marque’s first Superbike victory since 2013 and his 40th overall. Then, starting with race two at Assen, he won 13 races in a row, taking hat-tricks at Misano, Donington, Most and Portimão. The previous record was 11, held jointly by Rea and Bautista. A heavy free-practice crash at Magny-Cours left him with a pneumothorax and unable to race, but he finished the year with 18 wins from 30 starts and BMW’s first world title.

Chapter 03

Out at the Top

The 2025 season was the best of his career: 21 wins from 36 races, 31 podiums and 616 points, with Nicolò Bulega taking 20 victories of his own and still finishing second. It gave BMW a second title in two years and Razgatlıoğlu a third. He had already agreed to leave — Yamaha announced in June that he would ride for Prima Pramac Racing in MotoGP in 2026 — so he closed eight Superbike seasons as reigning champion, on 78 wins, 173 podiums and 24 pole positions.
