It is a straightforward shortening of his surname, and the name he uses himself — his website trades as Hicky 60, after the number 60 he carries in the British championship. His start number at the Isle of Man TT is 10.

Only Phillip McCallen and Michael Dunlop had done it before Hickman managed it in 2022 and again in 2023. Ian Hutchinson is the only rider to have won five in one week, in 2010.
